Puentes is excited about its upcoming Latine Research Week (LRW). Latine Research Week is an interdisciplinary, conference-style series of events that we host annually on campus to uplift research being conducted by Latine staff, faculty, and students, as well as research relevant to Latine populations. This year Latine Research Week will be held on February 17th - 19th in the Rackham Graduate School. In 2024, we were thrilled to host 19 research sessions, allocate space for over 90 presenters, and welcome over 850 attendees across our events. We hope to see an even greater turn out this year.

Puentes is pleased to announce our Latine Research Week (LRW) 2026 theme– Confluencia: Where Our Journeys Meet. Building on our previous themes of 2026’s Pa’lante and 2025’s Raíces y Presencia this year, we invite our community to reflect on coalition building, solidarity, and resilience. Confluencia is the Spanish word for confluence, which is a coming together point, typically used to describe the place where two or more rivers or streams flow together to form a single combined body of water. Confluencia draws on this imagery of rivers and tributaries joining into one powerful current. Just as separate streams merge and gain force when they meet, our communities across campuses, neighborhoods, and backgrounds grow stronger when we flow together rather than separately.
This theme speaks to coalition-building, solidarity, and the resilience it takes to sustain unity and convergence over time. This theme invites our community to imagine LRW not just as a single event, but as a gathering point where distinct experiences and histories meet, strengthen one another, and move forward with shared direction.
